DESCRIPTION:Our Heritage\, Our Planet Film Week \nEvent By: Hispanic Access Foundation \nDates(s): OCT 11-14\, 2022 \nTime(s): Various.  See Link below \nDetails: https://www.airmeet.com/e/906e5a20-cc94-11ec-a548-e90697b0403f \nDescription: Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month following Indigenous People’s Day by participating in Hispanic Access Foundation’s Our Heritage\, Our Planet Film Week: An annual celebration of the visual and storytelling traditions of Latino\, Black\, Indigenous\, and people of color’s voices and experiences in connection to our heritage and our planet – uplifting the nexus between our communities and the lands\, nature\, waterways\, and oceans we all call home. \nFor the 2nd year in a row\, Our Heritage\, Our Planet Film Week is building a space where creatives\, filmmakers\, climate justice advocates\, and others working on environmental topics can come\, showcase\, and celebrate\, the stories of Latino\, Black\, Indigenous and other people of color in connection to Our Heritage and Our Planet – the lands\, nature\, waterways\, and oceans we all call home. Our intention is to create and curate a space that celebrates their work\, uplifts the common threads of our experiences\, and provides additional opportunities for funds\, employment\, education\, advocacy\, and exposure for aspiring filmmakers of the global majority. \nThe festival is 100% virtual\, free to attend for all\, and will feature interactive workshops and discussions between artists\, communities\, and decision-makers on environmental topics. \nThis event is being held in partnership with the Center for Cultural Power.

SUMMARY:DEQ to hold community meeting October 11 on the Lower Cape Fear River private well sampling
DESCRIPTION:The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) will hold a community information meeting on Tuesday\, October 11\, at Roland-Grise Middle School in Wilmington. DEQ will share updates on private well sampling underway for PFAS contamination in New Hanover\, Brunswick\, Columbus and Pender counties.  Staff will also answer questions from the public about the private well sampling and alternate water supplies. \nWhen: Tuesday\, October 11 at 6 p.m. \nWhere: Roland-Grise Middle School Auditorium \n4412 Lake Ave\, Wilmington\, NC 28403 \nSpeaker sign-up will be available upon arrival at the meeting. \n\nAt DEQ’s direction\, Chemours is sampling for PFAS contamination in eligible private drinking water wells downstream of the Fayetteville Works Facility. Chemours is required to provide alternate water supplies to residents whose wells exceed specific action levels. \nTo have your well sampled\, call Chemours at (910) 678-1100. Messages to the Chemours call-line are monitored during regular business hours (Monday through Friday\, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.); Chemours should respond within 24-to-48 hours starting on the next business day.
