SUMMARY:Joye Braun Day of Action 2023
DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Federal Building on New Bern Avenue in Raleigh on Jan 20 at 12:30 pm for a rally with speakers and song. RSVP here \n  \nThis year\, our movement and our world lost Joye Braun\, a true warrior and force of nature. As part of the national Joye Braun Day of Action\, we’ll join water protectors across Turtle Island to take action in Joye’s honor against fossil fuels projects on January 20th – both Joye’s birthday and the second anniversary of the end of the Keystone XL pipeline\, that Joye worked hard to stop. \n  \nWe’ll be calling on President Biden to declare a climate emergency and connecting that with why we need to STOP the Mountain Valley Pipeline and MVP Southgate\, and how we need a stronger NC Carbon Plan. \n  \nIn the words of Joye herself:  “President Biden: Be a climate warrior not a wimp. Kill the black snakes\, reject all fossil fuel projects and declare a climate emergency.” \n  \nCheck out this great video by Tikkun Olam Films for the Joye Braun Day of Action to get you excited about the importance of the day! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UGXpdbW-xhU

SUMMARY:MVP Comment Writing Party
DESCRIPTION:Wild Virginia\, Appalachian Voices\, and POWHR welcome you to an online event to help you make effective comments in response to a public notice. \nJoin us on Wednesday\, January 25 at 7 p.m. \nWe have another chance to tell the U.S. Forest Service that the Mountain Valley Pipeline’s attempt to cut and blast across our Jefferson National Forest must be rejected. Construction would further pollute our waters in West Virginia And Virginia\, destroy vital forest habitats\, and harm our communities. \nThe Forest Service was forced to prepare a Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (SEIS) after citizens defeated two earlier flawed agency actions in court. The justification for the pipeline is even weaker than it was at the start and MVP has proven that predictions of dire harm are valid. \nIn this webinar\, you’ll hear: \n\nhow and where to submit comments\,\nsome pointers on how to make your comments most effective\,\nideas about the subjects and issues that should be addressed\, and\nwhere you can get more information and help if you need it.\n\nNote: Registering will make your contact information available to the organizing groups. You may opt out to stop receiving email notices from those groups by responding to their emails.
