SUMMARY:NC Resilient Communities Funding Forum
DESCRIPTION:Plan to attend the NC Resilient Communities Funding Forum taking place Feb. 28\, 2023 at the Greenville Convention Center.\nFunding is often a barrier to resilience project implementation. The Funding Forum will focus on addressing this obstacle by introducing community leaders\, policymakers and other stakeholders to federal\, state and nonprofit funding opportunities for resilience-related projects. The free\, one-day event will allow time to engage with potential funders\, who will be on hand to give presentations and answer project-specific questions during break-out sessions. A grant writing session is also planned to provide attendees with practical tools and strategies to take their project one step closer to reality. \nThis event is being cohosted by the Resilient Communities Program\, Regions Innovating for Strong Economies and Environment (RISE) and Resilient Coastal Communities Program\, and their respective divisions in the NC Office of Recovery and Resiliency and the Division of Coastal Management. \nView the detailed participant agenda. \nRegistration\nRegistration is required. SUMMARY:Community Meeting - Pender County Private Well Sampling
DESCRIPTION:The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) will hold a community information meeting on Tuesday\, February 28\, at Heide Trask Senior High School Auditorium in Rocky Point. \nDEQ will share updates on private well sampling underway for PFAS contamination in Columbus\, New Hanover\, Brunswick\, and Pender counties.  Staff will also answer questions from the public about the private well sampling and alternate water supplies. \nWhen:        Tuesday\, February 28 at 6 p.m. \nWhere:      Heide Trask Senior High School                 14328 NC Hwy 210\, Rocky Point\, NC 28457 \nSpeaker sign-up will be available upon arrival at the meeting. \nAt DEQ’s direction\, Chemours is sampling for PFAS contamination in eligible private drinking water wells downstream of the Fayetteville Works Facility. Chemours is required to provide alternate water supplies to residents whose wells exceed specific action levels. \nTo have your well sampled\, call Chemours at (910) 678-1100. Messages to the Chemours call-line are monitored during regular business hours (Monday through Friday\, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.); Chemours should respond within 24-to-48 hours starting on the next business day. If you don’t currently qualify for well testing\, you may qualify in the future. Chemours is required to keep your contact information and notify you if testing expands to your area. \nAdditional well sampling information for residents\, including criteria for eligible wells and other resources\, are available on the DEQ website.
