About FrackFree NC

FrackFree NC (FFNC) is a network of grassroots organizations who believe that shale gas development using “fracking” and horizontal drilling cannot be done without bringing harm to our waters, land, air, communities and public health. We are working to keep North Carolina frack free!

This webpage is a resource for people, organizations and local governments to learn more about fracking, to find documentation, and to connect with others in NC involved in this issue.

Clean Water for NC is the fiscal sponsor for FrackFree NC and is responsible for managing the content on this page. Learn more about the Alliance’s partners below.

History

Review a condensed history of the legislative rush to allow fracking in North Carolina.

Partners

FFNC consists of dozens of grassroots organizations across North Carolina! If you would like to join the Alliance, please send an email to [email protected]

The Atlantic Coast Pipeline

FFNC was incredibly involved in the fight against the fracked gas Atlantic Coast Pipeline and its impacts on Environmental Justice communities and drinking water sources from the start.

Resolutions & Ordinances

Resolutions and ordinances against hydraulic fracturing from dozens of North Carolina towns and municipalities.

Working with Local Governments

It may seem intimidating to approach local officials to urge them to pass an ordinance or resolution, but with the right approach, the whole process can be quite empowering.

NC Oil & Gas Commission

The NC Oil and Gas Commission is responsible for adopting rules on oil and gas exploration in North Carolina.
